Acne is classified as either inflammatory or non-inflammatory acne.
Inflammatory acne is infected by bacteria, is more aggressive and can form nodules and cysts, whereas non-inflammatory acne is identified by papules (small lumps), blackheads and whiteheads.
Both types form when dead skin cells and other debris mix with excess oil from the sebaceous glands (sebum) near the surface of the skin to clog pores.
We treat both types of acne using our infrared photo thermal laser. The infrared aspect of the laser means it penetrates deep into the dermis. The photo thermal property generates good heat build-up. This causes thermal coagulation of overactive sebaceous glands which neutralises them and renders them incapable of producing sebum. Moreover, pores are unblocked and the bacteria responsible for inflammation and swelling of the skin is heated and destroyed.
Throughout this process, the surrounding skin structure remains safe from damage and this treatment is also safe on darker skins.
