We receive many client referrals from tattoo artists who wish to have an existing tattoo faded in order to successfully tattoo over the top with new art work. It is an important part of the cover-up process for the following reasons:
- New tattoos can be ruined if the old tattoo starts to show through.
- The artist can better express what the client would like over the top, without being concerned about how it will work in with the existing tattoo.
- Following laser fading, the new ink doesn’t have to be applied as thickly because a faded tattoo is easier to cover, therefore the outcome looks more natural.
Normally 2 or 3 laser removal sessions are all that are required before successfully covering a tattoo with new art, however the tattoo artist makes the final decision on this as they can better envisage the final result they wish to achieve.
